Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Ellis, 43, of Crawfordsville who died at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville Friday evening March 15 were held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. GT Johnson, local Methodist Minister, conducted the service and Mrs. Mary Louise Newman played organ music including Whispering Hope, during the service. Serving as pall bearers and assisting with the floral offerings were: Howard Colson, Charles Lewis, Robert Lewis, Gene Ellis, William Ellis and Kenneth Ellis. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Mrs. Vera Ellis, who had been a resident of the Hillsboro community for several years died at Culver Hospital just two hours after entering. She had suffered form a heart ailment since Christmas. She was born in Parke County Indiana August 18, 1913 the daughter of of Oscar and Nora Lewis Armstrong. On August 6, 1932 she was married to Johnie Ellis and they went to housekeeping in Quaker, Ill. They moved to a farm east of Hillsboro 16 years ago and then moved to Crawfordsville more than a year ago. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Waynetown Methodist Church. Survivors include the husband, two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Livingston of Hillsboro; Miss Joyce Ellis and a son Joe Ellis, both at home; the parents residing in Kingman and two brothers, Raymond Armstrong of Newport and Harold Armstrong of Mamona Beach, Calif and one grandson, Johnie Livingston of Hillsboro - transcribed by kbz
